Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, best known for their 2018 sci-fi thriller Freaks, have been tapped to direct Final Destination 6, the first new entry in the franchise since 2011.

There’s a promising team behind this instalment: Ready or Not and the rebooted Scream franchise writers, Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor, are penning the script. Original franchise producer Craig Perry is producing with Sheila Hanahan Taylor, along with Jon Watts (Spider-Man MCU films) and Dianne McGunigle (Atlanta).

Plot details are being kept under lock and key (obviously!). Still, the story will remain the same as its predecessors: A character has a premonition of a horrific demise, so cheats their own death and saves other lives in the process – only to have Death come for the survivors, one by one.

According to THR, Lipovsky and Stein landed the coveted gig thanks to an incredible final Zoom pitch meeting: “The duo made their pitch to New Line execs and producers together, with a burning fireplace behind them. As they wrapped up the meeting, the fire came alive and the mantel began burning. The filmmakers stopped and, after a tense moment, quickly extinguished the flames. As they sat down, everyone relieved the accident had passed, a wrenching creak was heard and suddenly, the whizzing ceiling fan broke off and flew down, decapitating one of the filmmakers.

“The execs and producers went from concern to all-out laughter. The bit, using a combination of pre-recorded footage and visual effects, had transitioned seamlessly and showed their unabashed enthusiasm. It was, to all involved, the cherry on top.”

Sounds like Final Destination 6 is in good hands.
