Welcome once again to the movie marketplace that is Watto’s Emporium, which rounds up some of the best merch that we found across the online galaxy this week. And this week we go through house battles, warring superheroes and a jungle of trouble to bring you the newest additions to the ever-growing Emporium…
3. Game of Thrones McFarlane Construction Lannister and Stark Banner Packs (hboshopeu.com, £12.99)
Let us start by celebrating the newest in HBO’s series based on the books of George R.R. Martin. Yes, Game of Thrones is back, so as season 6 is arriving on screens this Monday (April 25th), we ask, whose side are you on? Although instead of heading to battle, you can show what side you are on in a far less dangerous way, with these House Lannister/House Stark Banner Packs that are available from hboshopeu.com. Looking quite epic on your shelf, these constructible banner packs each come with two figures, a banner with the chosen family crest and sigil, as well as a detailed base boasting that House name and- this is the real selling point- customizable weeds and dirt…what? Just because we are a cult entertainment magazine we can’t enjoy a little figurine gardening?
2. Captain America Hat- with Printed Bill (beltsbucklestees.com, £17)
Next week, the wait is finally over, as Captain America: Civil War finally lands in cinemas. Needless to say, we were impressed (see how impressed by checking out our review here) but if you want to start getting in the mood, why not dig out that Cap/Iron Man gear now? Or if you are lacking in that particular merch department, check out beltsbucklestees.com and get kitted out. We were particularly fond of this Captain America cap, perfect for the (fingers crossed) hot Summer ahead…not that we are taking a side in this Civil War, we are staying impartial on this one, we fancy neither a shield to the face or a repulse beam blast to the face ta very much.
1. Baloo, King Louie, Shere Khan, Bagheera and Kaa Soft Toys (disneystore.co.uk, £18.95 each)
Director Jon Favreau’s remake of Disney’s animated musical classic The Jungle Book may be as much Kipling as Disney but has still yielded unexpectedly great results (swing over to our review here). Cinemagoers the world over have been tapping their toes with Bill Murray’s (as ace as you could have hoped) Baloo and have jumped aboard the adventure with the iconic animal crew. But, if 3D was still not close enough, why not get even closer to the newer incarnation of these classic literary and movie characters, with this delightful range of toys from disneystore.co.uk. Included in the range are an exceedingly hairy King Louie, a rather scary Shere Khan (just like the film then), a nicely designed Kaa, a classy Bagheera and our personal favorite, an absolutely adorable Baloo (pictured, obviously)! Damn Disney toys and their irresistible fluffiness!
Be sure to keep an eye out every week for our pick of the top 3 funnest, funkiest and freakiest finds in our online merchandising explorations!
