Welcome once again to the movie marketplace that is Watto’s Emporium, which rounds up some of the best merch that we found across the online galaxy this week. And today’s trip into the Emporium is a trip where we can X-pect the unexpected. As all today’s picks are in occasion of the release of X-Men: Apocalypse (which is in cinemas now- read our X-tremely interesting review here). So buckle your seatbelts, as we board the merchandising Blackbird jet, for another week’s glide through the ever-expanding annals of the Emporium…
3. Magnet Shirt (beltsbucklestees.com, £7)
After appearing in 6 X-Men films and humanity constantly turning their guns on his fellow mutants- even if the helmet wearing metal mover has occasionally incited the odd stern response- you can sometime see Magneto’s point. We as people do oh so often attack that which we don’t understand, so show the master of Magnetism that you are not one of the haters with this shirt from beltsbucklestees.com that says it how it (sometimes) is, “Magneto was right”.
2. Marvel X-Men Apocalypse Pendant (etsy.com, £8.99)
How best to pay your respects to a mutant god? A statue? Your loyalty? Joining his army? All good options but what better way to bow to your super powered overlord than with this pendant? Made by DarkHolmeJewels over at etsy.com, this rather fetching pendant, is decorated by the comic book look of the immortal super villain Apocalypse, the first mutant and the guy making his movie debut (portrayed by Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Ex Machina star Oscar Isaac) in the new film (hence the name).
1. Quicksilver Stereo Belt (etsy.com, £98.55+)
However for mutant merch or X-Men related gear, the don’t come any more X-travagently crafted or X-citing than this meticulously assembled Quicksilver stereo belt. Lovingly made by CharlesworthDynamics at etsy.com, this awesome geeky joy is modelled on the belt worn by Evan Peters in his scene stealing tirn as Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past. On the site, we get a very articulate and lengthy description the belt (basically a stereobelt based on an invention that never ended up being released prior to the Walkman). Some assembly is required but instructions are provided and you should be able to put this together quicker than the silver haired hero himself. Swish.
Be sure to keep an eye out every week for our pick of the top 3 funnest, funkiest and freakiest finds in our online merchandising explorations!
