If for some reason, you can’t get to Edinburgh in August to enjoy the unique and world-famous Fringe Festival, you always have the option of going to the Camden Fringe, a smaller, London-based Fringe for those who can’t leave London for some reason. Running from the 1st of August to the 30th, it has an amazing 425 shows at 33 venues.
Comedy Producer Mike Reiss talks about his work on The Simpsons and the mechanics of making the legendary show funny. This two-hour presentation sounds like a must for fans of the show and a fascinating dive into a cult classic.
DELIVER US FROM EVIL
Inspired by the historic witch trials in 1600’s England, Deliver Us From Evil is an origin story of sorts for the self-titled Witch Finder General Matthew Hopkins, taking it all the way back to madness in the town of Manningtree. A historical drama on the nature of fanatics, resistance and history.
DRAGON
Inspired by mythology, Dragon is a contemporary dance that blends technology, history and cultural heritage. Sounds like the sort of thing Fringe theatre is for.
FATHERING IN THE AGE OF THE APOCALYPSE
Anarchic comedy crafted by two dads facing the end of the world. More worried about the future they’re leaving for their children than the inevitable end of all things, two performers try to justify fringe silliness in the face of apocalypse.
THE SILLIAD
A fringe classic, The Silliad gives mythology the Horrible Histories treatment, giving classic myths the care and attention it requires, with tongues rammed firmly in cheeks. Improv comedy is strong enough to please Zeus himself.
