Had enough of the rain? Yep, us too. Here are some great reasons to stay inside. Our picks for the next seven days on Horror Channel…
Tuesday August 3rd, 9pm – Tower Block (2012)
Fabulous urban terror as a sniper attempts to silence a witness to a murder, taking out numerous residents of a block of flats too. Directed by James Nunn and Ronnie Thompson from a script by James Moran (Cockneys vs Zombies), it boasts a fabulous cast including Sheridan Smith, Julie Graham, Ralph Brown, and Jack O’Connell.
Wednesday August 4th, 10.50pm – The Hallow (2015)
Corin Hardy’s debut feature is an impressively atmospheric affair. Folktales of fairies, baby stealers, banshees, and changelings inform this Irish-set tale of dread. Part body horror, part creature feature, it’s worth catching.
Friday August 6th, 10.45pm – John Carpenter’s Vampires (1998)
James Woods leads a ragtag group sanctioned by the Catholic Church to hunt and kill vampires. They may have met their match with Valek (Thomas Ian Griffith), an ancient creature seeking to complete a ritual to make him impervious to sunlight. Brilliantly gory and masterfully directed by Carpenter.
Saturday August 7th, 10.50pm – The Ascent (2012)
Time-twisting action as a group of mercenaries has to continually recreate their steps when a mission to gather intel goes hideously wrong. Writer/director Tom Paton is a master of making entertaining independent films and this one is no exception.
Sunday August 8th, 9pm – Deliver Us From Evil (2014)
Scott Derrickson directs this tale of a cop (Eric Bana) who teams up with a priest (Édgar Ramírez) to try to put an end to the evil being done by a possessed marine (Sean Harris). Based on a real-life demon-fighting duo.
