Fede Alvarez’s EVIL DEAD was one of those rare things: an actually rather good remake. Faring much better with fans and critics than many expected, the film ended up bringing home $100 million for a $17 million budget, which led to talk of a sequel. It appeared that Alvarez was to work on EVIL DEAD 2, Sam Raimi would develop ARMY OF DARKNESS 2, and then both cinematic worlds would dovetail into a crossover of sorts. It appears, at this stage at least, that EVIL DEAD 2 is no longer on the cards.

Speaking to JoBlo, EVIL DEAD star Jane Levy said, “They’re always coming up with a new thing – now I hear they’re making a TV show. I was like, ‘What?’ It doesn’t seem like there’s going to be an EVIL DEAD 2 anytime soon. At least not with me in it.”

The TV show that Levy refers to is something that reared its head in the last few weeks, with Sam Raimi, Ivan Raimi and Bruce Campbell all involved in the project. Whereas that seems to be moving forward, it appears EVIL DEAD 2 is now off the table.
