Poe

A life-sized bronze bust of the great Edgar Allan Poe is set to be unveiled at the Public Library in Boston, Massachusetts but they need your help to make it happen.

The sculpture is planned by the same group who last year erected a similar tribute to H.P. Lovecraft in Providence, Rhode Island, and it is hoped the project will be supported by the millions of Poe fans the world over. Some big name donators so far include director Guillermo Del Toro and writer Neil Gaiman.

The Kickstarter campaign, already over half funded, still has twenty four days to run, but don’t leave it too late to get involved. There are lots of great collectable items as incentives, but the best motivator must surely be the chance of being part of a project recognising one of the most important writers of horror and genre fiction.

As well as the unveiling, a one-off presentation of Jeffrey Combs’ one-man show, NEVERMORE – AN EVENING WITH EDGAR ALLAN POE will be performed at the Somerville Theatre. The production, directed by Combs associate Stuart Gordon (FROM BEYOND, REANNIMATOR) is an acclaimed event which has played to packed houses and this special performance is being arranged by local indie filmmaker, Izzy Lee in conjunction with Bryan Moore, the project producer and sculptor.

The name Edgar Allan Poe has since become synonymous with a standard of excellence in which all other efforts in his singular literary genre have become measured by…

The bust unveiling will take place on October 30th and the NEVERMORE production the following night, Halloween 2014.
