DOCTOR WHO has been a part of the British psyche and cultural identify for 50 Years. No other nation has had quite the same relationship with a TV show. That said, it’s still a marvellous and surprising sight to see a Tardis-style police box unveiled in Boscombe’s precinct on Christchurch Road, Dorset. The below image, courtesy of the BBC, gives a glimpse at what fans can expect.

Dorset police have commented on the box, which was funded by local firms, as being both a crime deterrent and a tourist attraction, one that will see geeks across the UK flocking to deepest darkest Dorset. It’s set to be a prime selfie location.

There are now two working police boxes in the country, the other based, unsurprisingly, in London. Yes, there’s even a working phone inside, one that can be used to contact officers.

This may well signal the return of the humble police box to streets across the UK, and maybe the Doctor won’t look quite so odd . . . maybe.
