Who At Fifty Event News

With a world-wide simultaneous broadcast planned for Day of The Doctor, the Fiftieth Anniversary episode of Doctor Who, it seems like the entire world is making preparations to celebrate half a century’s worth of Time Lord related shenanigans. However, the city of Manchester, England is really going that extra mile with a whole fortnight’s worth of Doctor Who related fun, with it’s Who At Fifty festival.

A total of thirty events are planned, starting from 16th November and ending on the 30th. Highlights include theatrical re-enactments of classic episodes The Unearthly Child and The Edge of Destruction by the critically acclaimed geek theatre troupe Scytheplays and Lass Productions, an audience with Waris Hussein, the BAFTA award winning director whose credits include the first ever episode of Doctor Who and helped cast William Hartnell. Comedy acts include The Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre, who will provide their world famous squeaky voice antics, and a Just an Earth Minute, a Gallifreyan themed take on the popular Radio 4 quiz show. The festival will also include Doctor Who inspired shows such as performance poet Rod Tame’s tribute to all things geeky in Strange World, Odd Person and a fundraiser for cult TV inspired theatre production Rehearsal Space.

If you’re lucky enough to be able to get to Manchester this month, then tickets are available online via We Got Tickets (search for Who At Fifty), and the festival’s Facebook group can be found here.
