If you happen to be on your hols in the Big Apple over the summer (lucky you) check out the new season of late night horrors and classic cult cinema showing at the Lincoln Center during July and August. Freaky Fridays kicks off on July 11th with Jeff Lieberman’s 1976 creepy-crawly classic Squirm. Boasting make-up effects by Rick Baker, the movie features an attack of earthworms on a small Southern town after a storm brings the critters to the surface hungry and ready to chow down on some unlucky locals. The perfect summer movie!

Additional films include David Cronenberg’s “Body Horror” classic The Brood (1979); Herk Harvey’s trippy cult film, Carnival of Souls (1962); and Mary Harron’s American Psycho (2000), featuring a memorable star turn by Christian Bale. Also on the “Freaky” slate are two rarely screened features: Paul Morrissey’s one-of-a-kind take on the vampire genre, Blood for Dracula (1974) and Liliana Cavani’s kinky The Night Porter (1974), with Dirk Bogarde and Charlotte Rampling.
