Following on from last month’s news that Paul McCartney has joined the latest Pirates of the Caribbean offering, we’re now hearing that Elton John is in talks to join Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

Yep, we’re as surprised as you, but this story seems legit as it’s originated at the ever-reliable Hollywood Reporter. It’s not known as this stage whether Sir Elton is in talks to play a character in the Kingsman sequel or whether he’ll simply be playing himself.

In terms of acting, Elton John is best known for his turn as the Pinball Wizard in Tommy all those years ago, although he’s turned up as himself in the likes of Spice World and The Simpsons. He’s certainly no stranger to the movie world, though, for he nabbed himself an Oscar and a Golden Globe for The Lion King’s Can You Feel the Love Tonight, not to mention taking home a Tony for his score on Aida.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle will see Taron Egerton and Mark Strong back as Eggsy and Merlin, respectively, with Halle Berry also on board as the head of the CIA. Game of Thrones’ Pedro Pascal has recently signed on to play a character named Jack Daniels, the first movie’s Charlie Hesketh is back in some form, and Julianne Moore is in talks to play the villain of the piece.

At present, Kingsman: The Golden Circle is set for a June 16th, 2017 release.
