Remember that slightly out-there rumour of Sir Elton John being lined up for a role in the Kingsman sequel? Well it turns out that the legendary Sir Elton has indeed landed a role in Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

The iconic Rocket Man singer took to his Instagram page to confirm his participation in the film by showing a new poster for the sequel along with the line “It’s been a long time since Tommy…” in reference to the last time Elton appeared in a feature film.

Sir Elton joins a cast that currently includes Taron Egerton and Mark Strong returning as Eggsy and Merlin, respectively, and new faces in the form of Halle Berry’s CIA Head, Pedro Pascal’s Jack Daniels, and an unknown role for Channing Tatum. Julianne Moore is also still in negotiations to play the film’s villain, whilst Edward Holcroft, who played snobby Charlie Hesketh in the first film, is back for this sequel but it’s unclear whether he’ll be reprising the Charlie role or playing an entirely new character.

At present, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, which will see the action moving to the US, is set for a June 16th, 2017 release.
