Eli Roth’s long-awaited cannibal thriller THE GREEN INFERNO has had its US release date scrapped by its distribution company, Open Road.
Deadline reports that the film will no longer be released on September 5th, following a restructure at the company handling the film.

Whether this will mean the film will sit on the shelf in the States or go straight to VOD/DVD is anyone’s guess. It shouldn’t effect the UK release – the film is set to play at Film4 FrightFest but no other plans have been announced yet – or worldwide, but at the moment there’s been no official word on this.

It’s not the first time a film has languished in American release limbo, both Joe Dante’s THE HOLE and the fantastic ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE were out worldwide for several years before making their domestic debut.
