Following the announcement that veteran actor Mark Strong would be voicing Inquisitor Eisenhorn himself, Pixel Hero Games have released their first true screenshots of EISENHORN: XENOS.

Uploaded onto the developer’s website, these eight images offer fans the first real look at the game’s visual aesthetic. While we had previously seen promotional shots and artwork displaying the XENOS’ locales in all their grim dark glory, those shown here offer a wider view of the world and its graphical fidelity.

While these images are of the game in its pre-alpha state, what has been shown thus far certainly looks promising. Along with the traditional massive aquila and clanking brass machinery, scenes show locations unseen in past WARHAMMER 40,000 video games. Chief among these are a visual mishmash of an Imperial cobblestone street, blending Victorian aesthetics with futuristic technology. Combined with Tesla style generators and a revolver toting man with bionics akin to those seen in John Blanche’s artworks, the look of the game is clearly embracing a semi-stylised design for the world. An understandable choice given its planned initial release on mobile and iOS devices.

Also worthy of note is the first glimpse of combat in XENOS, depicting Eisenhorn wielding a power blade against two pistol toting thugs on Hubris.

EISENHORN: XENOS is set for release sometime in 2015, expect further news as development continues.
