The upcoming Edge of Tomorrow sequel has taken a big step forward by bringing in some writers.

Deadline has word that Race’s Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse will be working on the script for the follow-up to Doug Liman’s 2014 movie.

There’s still a question over Liman’s involvement with the project. He is still on board to direct the sequel, although his schedule has recently been switched up due to the delays on Gambit. Liman will next helm The Wall for Amazon Studios, with production on Gambit looking to start at the end of the year. So, it remains to be seen when the director will be able to get to work on the Edge of Tomorrow sequel.

At present, the plan for this sequel is to bring back Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, although no plot details are known at this stage.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
