We love us a bit of John Carpenter at STARBURST, and what better than the teaming of Carpenter and Kurt Russell? Well one of the duo’s movies is set for the remake treatment.

The Wrap has word that 1986’s Big Trouble in Little China is to be remade. Not only that, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, believed to be a huge fan of the original, is to play the lead role of Jack Burton, the iconic role played by Russell in Carpenter’s movie. X-Men: First Class’ Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz are currently working on the script for the redo, with Johnson himself producing along with Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia.

Plot-wise, the original movie centred on Jack Burton, a trucker who winds up in the middle of supernatural shenanigans in San Francisco’s Chinatown.

Expect more on this as it develops.
