The Dublin 2019 Worldcon Bid has announced that it is teaming up with the Science Fiction Outreach Project in order to give away new and second-hand books at various conventions across the UK, and to also encourage people to attend various events.

Genre publishers from across the industry have already donated thousands of books to the campaign. Publishers who have contributed include Angry Robot, Gollancz, Hodder, O’Brien Press, Penguin and Tor. Forbidden Planet International also donated a large number of graphic novels.

The give-away will begin at Dublin Comicon, which runs on August 8th and 9th, and will do the rounds as the Dublin Bid team tour the UK encouraging people to get involved in the world of Science Fiction.

The Dublin 2019 Worldcon Bid aims to get the 79th World Science Fiction Convention to Dublin. Despite a world famous track record for Science Fiction events, Ireland has not yet hosted Worldcon. Hopefully this will change in 2019.
