London-based production company Dresden Pictures is following up their previous Kickstarter success on The Fitzroy with an ambitious dystopian sci-fi film set in London some thirty years from now.

Update: we can now reveal that Kristian Nairn, who played Hodor in
Game of Thrones, has officially joined the cast!

Thirty years after the great cure that killed billions, the human race no longer finds itself alone. Decades of infection from the spread of the cure have affected half of the remaining world population, physically transforming some into new races, and developing unknown abilities for others, with a small handful being altered into something much worse.

The United Kingdom, one of the last refuge’s in Europe from the political and military unrest that has captured the rest of the world in the wake of the great cure, is on the brink of collapse as anti-genetic liberation fighters, knows as the People’s Army, kill hundreds of ‘new’ citizens in suicide bombings and gunfire in the streets of Old London.

Biopunk follows the story of Resha Jordan and her younger brother Kio as they are caught up in a conspiracy to bring down the government and start a new world order. When Resha’s brother is kidnapped for his unique special abilities, she will stop at nothing to get him back.

The team is looking to raise £20,000 to produce a 10-minute proof of concept of the opening of the feature film. This will showcase the world of the film and the ambitious nature of the project – as well as proving to would-be investors and distributors the huge potential audience for the project.

Find out more about the project by heading over to Kickstarter and get involved with Biopunk – there are perks at all levels including a chance to appear in the film!
