As David Lee Fisher’s redo of Nosferatu gets underway, it’s now been revealed that Dough Jones will be taking on the film’s titular role.

Jones, best known for his fantastic work in the likes of Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and Crimson Peak, has landed the lead in what certainly promises to be an interesting movie.

What makes this remake interesting is that Fisher is going to be doing another “remix” job on the film. For those unfamiliar with the director, in 2005 he did what was labelled a remix of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. With that film, he used modern digital technology to actually pull the backgrounds from the original film and use them in his new take on the tale. It’s being reported by Variety that Fisher is going to be doing the same thing with Nosferatu, with the end result to be “a mixture of live-action combined with colorized digital backgrounds recreated from the original film.”

As well as Doug Jones, the remake of F.W. Murnau’s classic 1922 effort will also features Emrhys Cooper, Joely Fisher, Sarah Carter, and Jake Turner.
