In terms of sequels we all want to see, they don’t come any more in demand than a follow-up to Don Coscarelli’s 2002 Bubba Ho-Tep. And on that front, the writer/director has been discussing the chances of us ever seeing just such a sequel.

Coscarelli’s fantastic horror-comedy was based in a retirement home where Bruce Campbell and Ossie Davis battled a soul-devouring cowboy mummy. Oh, and if that wasn’t enough to entice you in, Campbell’s Sebastian Haff may or may not be Elvis Pressley, whilst Davis believed that he was really John F. Kennedy.

Having wowed any and all who saw it, Bubba Ho-Tep concluded with the tease that the action would continue in Bubba Nosferatu: Curse of the She-Vampires. Sadly, it’s now 14 years later and we’re yet to see any sort of sequel. In fact, the only real news on the project during that period has been that Bruce Campbell dropped out and had been replaced as Elvis by Ron Perlman. Again, that happened many years ago now, though.

However, Don Coscarelli has recently been addressing the possibility of Curse of the She-Vampires finally happening. When asked about the sequel during a Reddit AMA, he enthused, “I would love to do more Bubba Ho-Tep and more Elvis. That was a film I really enjoyed making. We had it set up at one time with Bruce playing opposite Paul Giamatti as Elvis’ manager Colonel Parker. Unfortunately that one fell apart. Elvis is eternal, though. We’ll get it done one day.”

Just when that “one day” is, we’ll have to wait and see…
