Just as ARROW has found its Ra’s al Ghul, now comes word that spin-off show THE FLASH has added another villain to its rank. The Hollywood Reporter has news that Dominic Purcell will be playing Mick Rory, aka DC’s Heath Wave, in the show. Purcell is best known for his role in PRISON BREAK, although genre fans will have noticed him in the likes of BLADE: TRINITY, THE GRAVEDANCERS and 2011’s STRAW DOGS.

The character of Mick Rory will debut in the tenth episode of THE FLASH, where he will team up with Leonard Snart, aka Captain Cold, who is to be played by Purcell’s PRISON BREAK cohort Wentworth Miller. Heat Wave debuted back in 1963’s THE FLASH #140, created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino. Whilst he originally had no powers to speak of, the villain utilised his flamethrower to do damage. In the more recent New 52 version of the character, Heat Wave was reinvented as a pyrokinetic being. Just which version THE FLASH will use remains to be seen.

THE FLASH debuts on The CW on October 7th, with the show set to air in the UK on Sky1 shortly after.
