HBO Max has just released the first trailer to their limited series DMZ, based on the DC graphic novel of the same name by Brian Wood.
The events are set in a near future, where a Second American Civil War has turned the island of Manhattan into a demilitarized zone, caught between forces of the United States of America and the secessionist Free States of America. Daredevil’s Rosario Dawson stars in the lead role as Alma Ortega, an NYC medic navigating the conflict-ridden DMZ in a harrowing quest to find her lost son.
The cast of DMZ also includes Benjamin Bratt (Doctor Strange, Coco), Hoon Lee (Iron Fist, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Freddy Miyares (When They See Us), Jordan Preston Carter (Shaft), and Venus Ariel (Exposed).
The series comes from showrunner and creator Robert Patino (Westworld), who executive produces alongside Ava DuVernay and Paul Garnes. Patino wrote the first episode, which is directed by DuVernay; The Walking Dead’s Ernest Dickerson directs the other three episodes.
DMZ is set to premiere on HBO Max on March 17th. Watch the trailer below:
