With Alden Ehrenreich now cast as Disney’s younger Han Solo for an upcoming Solo-centric movie, there’s an interesting story about another familiar face that may well be a part of the film.

It’s already been confirmed that everyone’s favourite walking carpet, Chewbacca, will be a part of the picture, but now comes a report from The Wrap that claims Disney is currently looking to cast a young Lando Calrissian for the film. Lando, of course, was famously played by Billy Dee Williams in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, although, more importantly, the character has a solid backstory with Han.

Throughout the “Holy Trilogy”, there’s references and mentions a plenty for Lando and Han’s past, even before Calrissian turns up in Empire. As well as the pair having a checkered past together, it was from Lando that Han actually won the Millennium Falcon.

It’s believed that the name doing the rounds in casting circles for the Lando gig is “Chance”, which would fit in nicely with the character’s well-known history as a gambler.

At present, the Phil Lord and Chris Miller-directed still-untitled Han Solo movie will be released on May 25th, 2018, sandwiching the film between Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: Episode VIII and Colin Trevorrow’s Star Wars: Episode IX.

Expect to be hearing a lot more on this as and when it develops.
