The talented Dick Gautier, who played Hymie the Robot in the Get Smart series, has passed away.

Born on October 30th, 1931 in Culver City, California, Mr. Gautier was bitten by the entertainment bug at an early age, especially living in the same city where Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studios was, seeing movie stars every day and being adventurous finding a way on to the backlot.

Truly a renaissance man of entertainment, he was an actor, comedian, voiceover artist, author, illustrator, cartoonist, a member of ASCAP, and a night-club singer as well as having served in the United States Navy.

A likeable guy Mr. Gautier was as funny on screen as he was off. Some of his memorable roles were in The Patty Duke Show, Gidget, Bewitched, the short-lived Mr. Terrific, Love American Style, Charlie’s Angels, Matlock, The Love Boat, Quincy, Happy Days and many more.

His list of voiceover work included the animated shows G.I. Joe, Transformers, Challenge of the Gobots, Galdar and the Golden Lance. Inhumanoids, Garfield and Friends, The Addams Family, Captain Planet and the Planeteers, Cow and Chicken, and Batman: the Animated Series.

His books on drawing and how to be a cartoonist are used in many college curriculums today.

Mr. Gautier was a great man who made us laugh and who will always be remembered fondly.  STARBURST sends our good thoughts to his family and friends.
