With The Hulk now confirmed to be a part of Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok, some stories are coming out on just how the Green Goliath will feature in the Thunder God’s next outing. Of course, it goes without saying, but there are some potentially big spoilers ahead. Read on at your own risk…

SPOILERS

The last time we saw Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, he was speeding off to self-chosen exile at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron. In terms of looking ahead at the future, we won’t see Hulk again until Thor: Ragnarok, with that meaning he’s off out screens until late 2017 and ruling out any appearances in Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (although a Hulk appearance could totally, totally work here), or the currently untitled first MCU Spider-Man movie.

Geek.com is reporting that they have the details on just how the Green Goliath will tie in to Ragnarok, though… and it ties in to some rumours that we’ve heard over the last few years. For those who’ve listened to all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe speculation over the past couple of years, one idea just refuses to go away: a cinematic adaptation of the famed Planet Hulk comic book arc. Now whilst The Hulk won’t be getting his own solo film any time soon, it looks as if the current plan is for the MCU to at least pull some inspiration from this fan favourite Hulk tale.

With Ragnarok seeing Thor banished from Asgard, the Son of Odin ends up on a nearby planet that specialises in gladiatorial battles. After the God of Thunder has dispatched of some of the planet’s best fighters, the ruler of the planet brings forward a mighty warrior from the shadows. Yep, you guessed it, The Hulk. From there, the pair will eventually end up working together to fight a bigger threat, believed to be Loki and Hela, the goddess of Death.

There’s nothing official from Marvel or Disney on this just yet, so treat this all as rumour for now, but it certainly makes a lot of sense.

We guess we’ll have to wait and see if all of this unravels when Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok hits UK screens in October 2017.
