Following on from the news earlier this week that Seth Grahame-Smith will be writing and directing Warner Brothers’ The Flash, now comes an update on what the Scarlet Speedster will look like in the DC Cinematic Universe.

Den of Geek has the scoop, claiming that Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen will be adorned in a more tech-based costume than what we’ve seen on The CW’s Grant Gustin-starring Flash TV show. The line coming out is that the big screen Flash is looking to avoid “any comparison to the well designed and received TV version” of the character’s classic red outfit. The report goes on to say that this cinematic speedster will see his costume look more like armour than anything else.

To give you an idea of what to expect at this point, comparisons have been made to the costume worn by Barry Allen in the hugely popular Injustice: Gods Among Us video game, which you can check out for yourself below:

Given that this Flash will share a universe with a Superman who has a dimmer, tougher looking suit and a Batman that will be seen in a heavily-armoured Batsuit for large parts of Batman v Superman, it’s no major surprise to see the Sultan of Speed getting heavily fitted out for action.

This is just one further step that the big screen Flash movie is taking to differentiate itself from the massively successful CW show. Previously, it’s been noted that Warners’ Flash movie will look to tell the origin story of Barry Allen whilst also not looking to copy any of what has been seen in the small screen Flash show. That’s going to be hugely difficult considering how wonderful a job The CW’s Flash has done on giving fans a definitive take on the origins of the Scarlet Speedster.

Seth Grahame-Smith’s The Flash is currently set for a March 3rd, 2018 release. Before that, though, Ezra Miller’s Flash will definitely appear in November 2017’s Justice League: Part One and is also rumoured to have a part to play in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which is released on March 25th, 2016.
