We brought word towards the end of last year that Cate Blanchett was being looked at for a role in Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok, with the mystery role rumoured to be that of Hela or Amora the Enchantress, and now comes some further news on that front.

Treat this as rumour for now, but Geek.com is reporting that the Oscar-winning actress is indeed up for the role of Hela, the Norse goddess of Death. Given that Ragnarok itself is essentially the Norse version of Judgement Day, it certainly makes sense that the goddess of Death and ruler of the Norse depiction of Hell would play a part. This latest report claims that Hela will be teaming up with Loki to cause chaos for Thor, banishing him from Asgard in the process and even destroying Mjolnir.

How true this turns out to be, we’ll have to wait and see. What we do know for sure, however, is that Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk will be along to help out the Son of Odin during this upcoming adventure.

To be directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Ragnarok is currently set for a November 3rd, 2017 release.
