Veteran actor Delroy Lindo is the latest to join the upcoming Godzilla x Kong follow-up. He will star opposite the previously announced Kaitlyn Dever, Jack O’Connell and Dan Stevens, who will reprise his role as the kaiju expert Trapper from The New Empire. Lindo will play Dever’s boss at Monarch, the shady scientific organisation that sometimes helps, and sometimes hunts down the titanic creatures.
Plot details are being kept deep under the sea, but Legendary has said the story will feature “several new human characters alongside the beloved and iconic Titans Godzilla and Kong as they face off against a cataclysmic world-ending threat.”
Director Grant Sputore, best known for I Am Mother, is helming the film from a script by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse writer Dave Callaham. Callaham also helped establish the MonsterVerse with a story credit on 2014’s Godzilla.
Delroy Lindo will next be seen in Ryan Coogler’s vampire thriller Sinners. He is best known for his frequent collaborations with filmmaker Spike Lee, and the actor received significant acclaim for his performance in 2019’s Da 5 Bloods, the war drama that starred Chadwick Boseman.
The yet-untitled Godzilla x Kong follow up hasn’t announced a release date, but stay tuned for updates as we hear them.
