With yesterday seeing Falk Hentschel cast as DC’s Hawkman in the shared universe of Arrow, The Flash and the upcoming DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, the CW/DC television realm has now found its Vandal Savage.

The trailer for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow revealed that Savage would be the ‘big bad’ of the show, and Tarzan’s Casper Crump has now landed the gig. Much like Hawkman, Vandal Savage will debut in the next Arrow/Flash crossover event before then becoming a fixture of Legends of Tomorrow. The blurb on the character describes him as “having spent the past 6,000 years moving like a virulent disease through history, whispering in the ears of the despots and dictators, all leading to this eventual domination of the world.” Heavy stuff, no?

The official word on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow reads:

When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat – one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?

As well as initial cameos from Stephen Amell’s (Green) Arrow and Grant Gustin’s Flash, the show will also feature Brandon Routh as The Atom, Victor Garber as Martin Stein, Caity Lotz as White Canary, Ciara Renee as Hawkgirl, Falk Hentschel as Hawkman, Arthur Darvill as Rip Hunter, Dominic Purcell as Heat Wave, Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold, and Franz Drameh as Jay Jackson (believed to be the show’s take on either Cyborg, Black Lighting or Static Shock).

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is set to debut in the first half of next year.
