Several DC property shows may well have had TV runs with varying degrees of success, but the up and coming crop is enough to get even the most hardened fan excited. Alongside SUPERGIRL, CONSTANTINE and THE FLASH is the news from Deadline that Fox has tapped LUCIFER for a pilot. The character comes from the dreamy world of SANDMAN under DC’s Vertigo imprint.

The pilot is being handled by the driving force behind Showtime’s CALIFORNICATION, Tom Kapinos. The source material looks like it’s in capable hands. Lucifer was portrayed as a largely sympathetic character, doomed to rule hell as punishment for his rebellion. Writer Neil Gaiman made it so the character grew tired of his duties and returns to Earth, modelling himself on David Bowie.

It’s believed that the TV series would draw predominantly from the LUCIFER comic penned by Mark Carey.

More details as we hear them.
