It’s been rumoured ever since Tim Miller departed the movie several weeks ago, and it’s now being reported that David Leitch is indeed the man tasked with directing Deadpool 2.

The Hollywood Reporter brought word of the news, with the John Wick co-helmer given the job of following up this year’s hugely successful Ryan Reynolds-starrer. From a budget of just $58 million, Deadpool brought home a whopping $780 million, proving that you don’t need huge budgets to make a great superhero movie – *cough* Batman v Superman *cough*.

In addition to Deadpool 2, 20th Century Fox already have their sights set on Deadpool 3 and bringing in a different director for that film. There’s no news on who is currently in the frame for that threequel, but, after throwing their names into the hat for Deadpool 2, we’d love to see Jen and Sylvia Soska given the job of handling Deadpool 3. Those Twisted Twins would be the perfect choice to direct any entry in this franchise, and here’s hoping it’ll be third time lucky for them.

Where Deadpool 2 is concerned, Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth will be joined by badass mutants Cable and Domino, with the current plan being to have Deadpool 3 be an X-Force driven movie that will feature Deadpool, Cable and Domino as part of a larger team of mutants.

With Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick joining Reynolds in returning for Deadpool 2, Fox currently have the sequel set for a March 2018 release.
