The upcoming musical crossover between The CW’s The Flash and Supergirl has found its music-driven villain.

As soon as it was announced that Grant Gustin’s Scarlet Speedster and Melissa Benoist’s Maid of Might would be coming together in a musical crossover, many presumed that the nefarious Music Meister would be at the centre of things. And that is indeed the case, with Glee’s Darren Criss now cast in the role.

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told TVLine, “With our Flash and our Supergirl being Glee alums, how could we not have them go up against another Glee favourite like Darren Criss? We have been blown away by his talent over the years and we can’t wait to see what he brings to the Music Meister.”

The Music Meister character actually debuted in Batman: The Brave and the Bold, where he was voiced by Neil Patrick Harris. For those not familiar with the rogue, his main power is simply that he can control people by forcing them to break out into song and dance.

In the US, the crossover will start with the March 20th episode of Supergirl before continuing in the following night’s episode of The Flash. Here in the UK, we can expect to see these musical outings a few weeks after their US airings.
