Shared universes are rapidly becoming a hallmark of cinema, from Marvel’s impressive and hugely popular AVENGERS movies, to the recent news that Universal will be rebooting its classic run of monster movies within a shared universe. You’d be forgiven, however, for forgetting about the messy ALIEN v. PREDATOR (AVP) franchise.

While the separate franchises are linked tenuously at best, the mediocre ALIENS V. PREDATOR films (yes, remember that sequel) were largely disappointing, but Dark Horse are tackling the problem head on. In a highly ambitious project, the comic book powerhouse is uniting the disparate threads of PROMETHEUS, ALIEN, PREDATOR and the aforementioned AVP.

The first issue is released next month. Titled PROMETHEUS: FIRE AND STONE, the comic is set after the events that took place in Ridley Scott’s misunderstood gem. A new team lands on LV-223 in order to discover what happened to the crew of the PROMETHEUS. Of course, they come to regret their actions.

ALIENS: FIRE AND STONE will following, with AVP: FIRE AND STONE and PREDATOR: FIRE AND STONE next in line. The four series will share concepts, characters, and situations for what looks set to be an impressive story arc.

A 4-page sampler is online at the Dark Horse website and the book trailer is below.

The first issue is set for a September release.
