It’s been a quiet few months where all things 007 are concerned, but now comes a potentially huge update on the future of the franchise.

According to The Mirror, it’s being reported that Daniel Craig has finally agreed to return for a fifth outing as James Bond in Bond 25. Of course, nothing official has been announced at this stage, so it’s best to maybe wait for word from the powers that be before taking this as gospel for now.

If you remember back, whilst promoting 2015’s Spectre, Craig famously said how he’d rather slit his wrists than return as Britain’s greatest spy. From there, he’d instantly move to play down his comments after he received a whole lot of backlash for his words. Subsequent stories would see Craig offered an ever-increasing stack of money to tempt him in to a return, with the last report seeing him offered a ridiculous $150 million for just two more Bond pictures. And just like that, supposedly he once again had a sincere interest in playing 007 again. Nothing to do with the money. No. Definitely not swayed by much moolah. Honest.

While the likes of Tom Hardy, Idris Elba and Tom Hiddleston have been suggested as replacing Craig, the Bond producers have always seen a Craig return as their top priority at this point, and if this latest news turns out to indeed be true then they’ll have got their way.

Additionally, the same source claims that producer Barbara Broccoli is determined to have Adele return to record the theme song for Bond 25. Adele, of course, provided the Grammy and Golden Globe-winning tune for Skyfall.

As ever, expect more on all of this as we get it.
