Great news for fans of BBC Radio 4’s science fiction drama - a third season of Dangerous Visions!
Starting on May 22nd with a trip into the Brave New World of Aldous Huxley, the season will run over three weeks and titles are also available through the BBC iPlayer Radio app for a further 30 days.
There will be ten brand new stories, with a range of actors including Tim McInnerny (Blackadder), Tamsin Greig (Green Wing), Anton Lesser (Game of Thrones) and Catrin Stewart (Doctor Who, Misfits). The full line-up also includes a John Wyndham classic. The Kraken Wakes. This has been adapted by crime writer Val McDermid who has been a fan of Wyndham’s work for a number of years. The music was specially composed for this version and performed by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.
The other stories stretch right back to an 1890 tale by artist and thinker William Morries, News from Nowhere and also four specially commissioned stories under a banner of Dark Vignettes. Many, but not all, of the stories chosen incorporate themes of what if? or alternative history; all should pique the interest of any fan of cult audio.
