Dan Haggerty, known for his work on the Grizzly Adams television series and movies as well as the cult horror film, Elves, passed away quietly after his long-term battle with cancer.

Born on November 19th, 1941 in Pound, Wisconsin he started as a child actor in the 1953 television pilot The Tales of Jeffery Jones.

An advocate of physical fitness and avid motorcycle enthusiast, Mr. Haggerty turned to professional body building where he competed in contests and met good friend and actor William Smith.

His powerful physique won him a role in the American International film Muscle Beach Party that starred Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello. Future roles playing bikers included Easy Rider, Angels Die Hard, and Bury Me An Angel.

But, it wasn’t until 1974 that he would become recognisably famous when he was offered the role of the lead character in The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams. The film was a huge success that led to a television series and five feature films.

Always working. Mr. Haggerty appeared in a series of independent movies throughout the years with his final film to be released in upcoming months entitled, The Untold Story.

Mr. Haggerty was a good-natured, good-hearted man who will be missed.
