Downtown Abbey and Legion’s Dan Stevens and The Matrix Resurrections star Jessica Henwick have boarded writer-director Tilman Singer’s horror flick Cuckoo, which recently wrapped filming in Germany.

The Neon film is fronted by Euphoria breakout star Hunter Schafer, with Jan Bluthardt, Marton Csókás, and Greta Fernández also starring. John Malkovich and Gemma Chan were previously attached to the pic, but dropped out due to timing issues, according to Variety. THR also reports that Sofia Boutella is on board the horror but we could find no evidence of her casting.

Plot details are still being kept top-secret, though Cuckoo is set for a 2023 release – all we have so far is a first-look image at Schafer’s unnamed character with her arm in a serious cast, cowering from a threatening background figure (seen above). It marks Singer’s sophomore feature after his 2018 supernatural horror-mystery debut Luz.

Stevens will next be seen in the Warner Bros. and Legendary sequel to Godzilla vs Kong, while Henwick will soon appear in another Neon project, The Royal Hotel, opposite Julia Garner; she also stars in Rian Johnson’s Knives Out sequel, Glass Onion, and in the Russo Brothers’ The Gray Man, which releases later this month.
