Nicolas Winding Refn (The Neon Demon, Drive) is headed to the small screen with Copenhagen Cowboy, a new six-part neon noir series for Netflix, for which we have a brand-new trailer.

Per the logline, Copenhagen Cowboy is a thrill-inducing, neon-drenched noir series which follows an enigmatic young heroine, Miu (Angela Bundalovic). After a lifetime of servitude and on the verge of a new beginning, she traverses the ominous landscape of the titular city’s criminal netherworld. Searching for justice and enacting vengeance, she encounters her nemesis, Rakel (Lola Corfixen), as they embark on an odyssey through the natural and the supernatural. The past ultimately transforms and defines their future, as the two women discover they are not alone; they are many.

The series is created and directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, who co-writes alongside Sara Isabella Jönsson and Johanne Algren. The series also stars Zlatko Buric, Andreas Lykke Jørgensen, Jason Hendil-Forssell, Li Ii Zhang, Dragana Milutinovic, Mikael Bertelsen, Mads Brügger, and more.

The series premiered to mixed reviews at this year’s Venice Film Festival, though critics conceded that it upheld Refn’s usual visual style.

Copenhagen Cowboy releases all six episodes to Netflix on January 5th, 2023. Watch the first full trailer below:
