Whilst last week brought news that Lucy Griffiths’ Liv was departing NBC’s CONSTANTINE after the pilot episode, now comes word on a new female lead for the show.

When Griffiths’ departure was announced, it was speculated that Mary ‘Zed’ Martin would be the character brought in to replace Liv. Now comes word, via the show’s Facebook page, that Angelica Celaya, likely best known for 2010’s COWBOYS & VAMPIRES, has been cast as Zed. As for the character, she’s an artist who joins John Constantine in his battle. Interestingly, she also serves as a love-interest for him at times. If that happens in the show, Hellblazer’s done well for himself.

Starring Matt Ryan as the titular character, CONSTANTINE is expected to air its pilot, directed by Neil Marshall, at this month’s San Diego Comic-Con. The show will then premiere in the US on 24th October. Here’s hoping a UK home is found shortly.
