Warner Brothers’ already crammed SUICIDE SQUAD has added another face in the form of rapper Common. The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop, with the musician-turned-actor said to have landed a mystery role in the film.

For those with good memories, you may remember that Common was actually on board a DC project once before. Back when George Miller was putting together his JUSTICE LEAGUE movie in the 2000s, Common had actually been cast to play the John Stewart version of Green Lantern. We know that Green Lantern is going to appear in the DC Cinematic Universe down the line, so could it be that Common is to finally get his chance to play John Stewart?

This latest addition joins a stacked cast that includes Jared Leto as The Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Karen Fukuhara as Plastique, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller. There are also unconfirmed roles for Jay Hernandez (believed to be a cellmate of The Joker’s), Scott Eastwood (believed to be Wonder Woman love interest Steve Trevor), Raymond Olubowale (believed to be Killer Croc), Adam Beach (believed to be Deathstroke) and Ike Barinholtz (believed to be Hugo Strange). Additionally, Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor is set to make an appearance, and there’s even talk of a brief cameo for Ben Affleck’s Batman.

To be directed by David Ayer, SUICIDE SQUAD is currently set for an August 5th, 2016 release.
