Everybodyelse productions has launched a Kickstarter to fund what they are calling a cinematic audio drama of HG Wells’ The Coming of the Martians. To be released in 2017, it promises to be a faithful, full-cast dramatisation of the 1898 novel The War of the Worlds. The title for this project comes from Wells’ own title for the first part of the ground-breaking novel.

No details yet on casting, though experience and talented director Lisa Bowerman has been revealed as the director of this Martin Johnson production, adapted by Nick Scovell. Martin is a professional audio drama producer, sound designer, audio editor and composer who has worked for Big Finish, Bafflegab and Hammer Films on various ranges.

Everybodyelse produced the 2014 release Osiris: Pilot, previously reviewed here. If that is any measure of quality, The Coming of the Martians has every chance of being the stand-out HG Wells release of the year.
