The dead have walked onto Apple’s Newsstand App in the form of comic-book anthology Dead Roots, created by an impressive array of British writers and artists that have worked on TV series like Red Dwarf, Doctor Who and Torchwood and films such as Severance, Stormhouse and Cockneys Vs Zombies.

Released via a quarterly subscription model for iPads & iPhones, Dead Roots is a zombie anthology that doesn’t just focus on the walking dead, it also delves into what it means to be human when faced with the apocalypse. Editor Mike Garley has assembled a motley crew of creators that have worked on comic magazines like Mark Millar’s CLiNT, TV shows like The IT Crowd, British stalwarts like 2000 AD and even Friday the 13th tie-in novels. The diversity of writers and artists is one of the big draws, second only to our insatiable hunger for brains.

Look for a full review of Dead Roots in an upcoming edition of Adventures On Alternative Earths in Starburst Magazine and if you can’t wait until then, you can subscribe to Dead Roots through iTunes.
