Eisner award winning writer Ed Brubaker (FATALE) has announced he will be collaborating with artist Steve Epting on a new comic entitled VELVET.

VELVET will tell the story of Velvet Templeton, a personal assistant in Cold War England, who flees her comfy desk job to attack those she used to work for!

Eight years in the making, this is more than just a comic book. Brubaker wishes to comment on the genre of ‘spy’ and ‘espionage’ and that all starts with the use of a female as the lead instead of a male.

1950s females, though strong and independent during World War II seemed to fade into the background again during the Cold War, becoming the Nuclear Family Housewife.

Brubaker intends to change all that and the views of morality, sexuality and the female figure for a woman living in the ’50s.

With a classic grey streak of hair, femme fatale lips and eyes and revolver, this looks like a winning combo for Brubaker and anyone that buys it in October.
