Marvel has revealed that in spring 2014, a new Spider-Man graphic novel will emerge by comic legends Mark Waid & James Robinson, with art by Gabriele Dell’otto: Spider-Man: Family Business. Most interestingly though, is that the book will herald an addition to the Parker family… Peter’s long lost sister Teresa Parker.

This will be an interesting series both psychologically and physically as Peter has never had siblings and has always been in misperception about his parents. Adding a sister to the mix means that she has been hidden from Peter all this time, making us ask the question, why? What does she know that we and Peter don’t?

Waid has said: “It seems very bizarre to him that Aunt May never mentioned anything about this woman, who’s about his age and the resemblance is there. Peter wants to try to figure out what this mystery is all about but basically they’re running from a crime syndicate out to kill them both throughout the novel, so there’s not a whole lot of time for Spider-Man to sit and relax and slowly suss this out.”

The newly released trailer for the series (below) suggests that Teresa may be in the same line of business that mum and dad were in, showing how she knows she’s Peter’s sister and how she was able to be there for him.

The artwork by Dell’otto shows depth, maturity and is a stark departure from the usual poppy, colourful Spider-Man we know. Check out the preview and official synopsis below to get a taste of what’s to come:
