California based artist Khoa Ho’s latest work might be of interest to Starburst readers. It’s a series of six posters entitled Superheroes – Past/Present based on the idea that “It’s not who you are underneath. It’s what you do that defines you”. You may recognise that from Batman Begins (2005). As he says on his website:

Everyone has a memory, a past. It’s the driving force behind all of our actions for our present, our future.

In this poster series I took a dive into the origins of these individuals and who they were before they became superheroes to remind us that despite the trials of our past, what we choose to do moving forward is much more important to us and the world we share.

The posters are all monochrome negatives and feature Batman, Superman, The Flash, Spider-Man, Ironman and Wolverine. We all bring our own baggage to art so we won’t say much about them other than that we think they’re pretty cool and the Batman one (below), in particular, is rather stunning. Have a look for yourself and see what you think.
