It seems the iconic Archie will be leaving his ol’ town of Riverdale for a fabulous European tour; however they will not be travelling to Russia in the new series. Why? Because Russia has very strict anti-gay laws. The government can arrest people who may be suspected of being gay and the subject of being gay cannot be talked about in front of children years 18 and less of fear of being criminalised! Hence it’s probably not the best holiday destination for Kevin Keller, ARCHIE’s first openly gay character.

Russia was on the list in the new series, when the gang tour four Euro countries, and no doubt they would be living it up in the Red Square, but it seems they’re going to have to find some other spectacular site to have fun with. Dan Parent, creator of Kevin Keller, is taking a stand, both in the real and fictional world, suggesting a boycott over these laws and states: “Russia should be boycotted, so much so that, actually, in an upcoming special four-issue story arc I’m writing, the ARCHIE gang are going to take a world tour to four countries. Russia was to be one of them, but they’re not going there now. They just can’t and they won’t.”
