Stories recently emerged to say that Colossus would be making an appearance in the upcoming DEADPOOL movie. As such, many believed that Daniel Cudmore, who played the character in X2, X-MEN: THE LAST STAND and last year’s X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, would be returning as Piotr Rasputin. Seemingly that will not be the case.

Taking to Twitter, Cudmore revealed, “Thanks everyone for all the support for me to reprise the role of Colossus in DEADPOOL, but unfortunately it won’t be happening for me. I’ve had a blast playing such an awesome character over the years. DEADPOOL will be kick-ass with Tim Miller and Reynolds”.

No reasoning has surfaced on why 20th Century Fox will be recasting the role, but it may be that they’re looking for a younger take on the character possibly, much like how they’ve recently cast younger versions of Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm and Nightcrawler for X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. That said, Cudmore is only 34 years of age, although it’s not known exactly what timeframe this Deadpool solo movie is going to be set in.

At present, DEADPOOL is currently set for a February 12th, 2016 release.
