With San Diego Comic-Con now under way, it looks as if Star Wars: Episode IX has found itself a director.
Heroic Hollywood is currently at Comic-Con and has the scoop, revealing that Jurassic World’s Colin Trevorrow is set to be announced as helming Episode IX. The Star Wars panel takes places at Hall H later today, with it believed that Trevorrow will be brought on stage and announced as heading to a galaxy far, far away.
J.J. Abrams’ is currently working on Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, with Looper’s Rian Johnson already announced to be directing Star Wars: Episode VIII. Now it looks as if Trevorrow has nabbed himself the Episode IX gig.
In fairness, we kind of alluded to this in STARBURST #414 (available here) when talking about how Trevorrow isn’t returning for a follow-up to Jurassic World, suggesting that we thought he may be circling a Star Wars gig. That now seems to be the case.
Up next for the iconic franchise is Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, which hits screens on December 18th.
As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
