With Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam-Care recently announced as part of AMC’s upcoming WALKING DEAD companion series, now comes word, courtesy of Deadline, that New Zealander Cliff Curtis will be taking on the show’s lead role.

The role itself will be that of a divorced teacher, with the story revolving around him and a female guidance counsellor and her kids (played by Dillane and Debnam-Carey). As for Curtis himself, the long-time character actor is best known for turns in the likes of SUNSHINE, BRINGING OUT THE DEAD, BLOW, LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD, COLOMBIANA, TRAINING DAY and huge STARBURST fave ONCE WERE WARRIORS.

The companion series, at this stage being referred to as COBALT, will debut next year, taking place in a different location, possibly even a different point in time, to THE WALKING DEAD.
