With James Cameron currently busy working away on four Avatar sequels, now comes word that Cliff Curtis is joining the franchise.

As per Deadline, the Fear the Walking Dead actor will be playing a character called Tonowari, described as “the leader of the Metkayina, the reef people clan.” Curtis joins a cast that currently includes the returning figures of Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang.

After munch shunting of release dates, Avatar 2 is currently booked in for December 2020, Avatar 3 for December 2021, Avatar 4 for December 2024, and Avatar 5 for December 2025.

Do we really need four sequels to Cameron’s 2009 mega hit? No, no we don’t. But that’s what we’re getting because… well, because Jim Cameron.

As ever, expect more on these Avatar sequels as they continue to develop.
